E scooter Sunday - Armthorpe / Dunscroft |
||
|
Although its January we don't have any snow on the ground so we fall short of calling it Ski Sunday, but we could go with E-Scooter Sunday. A C Group LPT Officer was travelling along Hatfield Lane, Armthorpe this afternoon when he was shocked to see a young man appear to shout something at his Police vehicle and make a very unpleasant hand gesture, all whilst illegally riding his e-scooter. The Officer took the young lad by surprise by stopping and seizing his scooter. The officer showed some discretion and contacted the young mans mother explaining the circumstances, who was shocked at her child's behaviour.
He has now written a letter of apology to the Officer, which goes something like…… ‘Dear Policeman, I should not have called you a #'@$@##, I wont do it again.
The scooter was returned to his mother with knowledge of the laws that apply to e-scooters.
Whilst travelling back to the Police station a young female in Dunscroft was seen riding an e-scooter along the path. Advice was given and she was allowed to walk the scooter home. Literally two minutes later the same female was seen riding the scooter at speed in the middle of Abbey Road, Dunscroft, clearly taking none of the advice she had been given. On seeing the Police car she dropped the scooter and ran off leaving it on the kerbside. This scooter has been seized and unless we receive a call we wont be returning it.
E scooters are illegal to use on any public place, including roads and pathways. If you ride an e-scooter please understand the law or you may find the scooter is taken away.
E-scooters continue to be a regular concern for local residents, who raise the issue at our engagement meetings.
